Funeral for who?

You know that the church you go to is special. No matter who you are or what church you attend, it is special, or you would not belong their. My church is filled with wonderful people. I have my first funeral or memorial at church today.I have signed on to be the church event planner. That means most of the big events we have I will try and get the food out and let people know what is going on and how they can help. I have been so nervous about this. I just don't want to blow it and let everyone down.

My first event "Good Friday" went better than I had planned. People brought food and were gracious that I even did anything. It turned out well. (I will do better next year though.) This is my first funeral though. I hate to say it but the lady that it is for did not have a lot of friends or family so I thought it would be hard to find others who would be willing to help. I was calling around and emailing members who would then in turn ask " now who exactly is Pamela?" This was not a good sign. I was sure I would be doing the whole thing by myself.

Yesterday, I stopped by church to see what I would need for today, holy cow, people were asking me "what can I do to help you? So you have members attending the service or do you need us to come and support the family? We can represent the church for you." How awesome is that? One lovely lady can't make the service but will be there later this morning to help me decorate the west wing for refreshments after the service. I love my church.

Christ Church Parish, this is a great place to be.
