Took the Munchkins to the Getty

After a morning of action packed soccer games ( which by the way Michael scored the only two goals of his game and Becca's team won their first!) we headed out with our church youth group to see the J.Paul Getty Museum. It was quite the experience. I think the munchkins enjoyed the outside gardens and the family room the best. The day was perfect. The views were spectacular. The company was entertaining. It was quite an adventure for us.

This is the munchkins participating in the Family Museum. They got to color parts of a reproduction of an old picture book. Even Belle got into the fun.

Becca and Belle were using the audio areas to learn more about the exhibits at the Getty.

Aimee and Belle were enjoying the fountains.

Belle and Michael were noticing the beautiful minerals in the rocks.
She loved learning about them from him.
:)

Honestly, I think the Getty was a good trip but a bit boring for them. The Renaissance art was just not their cup of tea. They did not enjoy the modern art or the statues either. They did enjoy seeing the furniture from the 17th century though. The gardens interested them too. They really enjoyed the "green"roofs at the Getty, knowing how responsible that was and that the Getty was helping to save the environment in some way. I think this confirms that I should take them to more outdoor events since that is what they really enjoy.
Although...
we did take the munchkins bowling yesterday, and that was indoors.
They had such a goood time in there too!
Granted afterwards we went to a reception that was outside in the foothills. They were running around all over and found a bunch of wild baby kittens. No I did not take any home. Both of my guys are allergic to them and now Michael Jr is home feeling ill. I hope it isn't from the kittens.
Probably just all the running around that we have been up to lately!
All in all we had a really nice weekend.
Happy to have been able to share it with you.
:)
