Since we are now spending our vacation doing our home renovation, we figured we would start it out right and take the little munchkins on an outing. Aimsters is studying the Renaissance time period at school so taking a hint from my homeschooling friend, we took a learning experience and made it much more memorable. We took the munchkins to the Renaissance Pleasure Faire at the Santa Fe Dam. We saw some very interestingly dressed people on the way in to the fair. They were keeping to the theme of the day and speaking with words of their century.Michael Jr was not so sure at first that this learning place was going to be that great. I told him "Hey you want to be home schooled right? Well this is how we do it."
As soon as we entered the gates he was glad we came. They got to write their names in a guest book with a quill and ink pot. It was harder than they thought. The armor this knight wore was heavy. Michael noticed that the man could still be killed because it only covered part of him, smart boy.
The girls found the Queen and went to meet her court. They were announced and had to go and curtsy before her. She was most gracious and gave them all gifts to remember her by. Aimee got a beautiful blue ribbon. Becca got a pretty green and gold ring. Belle received a pearl broach. Dad and Michael thought they would skip this part....
AND GO ROCK CLIMBING!!!
LOOK AT MY LITTLE MAN GO! HE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP LIKE 6 TIMES!!!
Not to be out done by her older brother, Becca climbed to the top too.

Aside from the games, they really learned about how life was back then. They all thought that the jousting was wonderful. The way that they sold things was interesting since we don't usually support our peddlers here in our city. The kids decided that the living accomedations were not up to their standards. Imagine that?! The girls popping out of their outfits bugged the girls but got the guys attention. It was really fun. Now Michael Jr really wants to be home schooled. I have to admit, it really was a great day, expensive, but a great day. I think my kids will remember this adventure into the past for a very long time.
