Night Sky

My son was turned on to space science by his teacher last year. He is really into reading about the planets and stars. Thank goodness because it made it easier to get him to read this summer!
Anyway, we picked up this telescope yesterday at church. It isn't a majorly expensive one, but my kids thought that it was Christmas as excited as they were about it!
The only bad part was, last night was VERY CLOUDY.

Look at poor Becca.
It was her turn and the clouds just covered the moon.
Michael Jr was a plethora of information about the moon and where the stars should be though. He was hoping to see the big dipper through the telescope but it would fade in and out because of the clouds. Maybe tonight it will be better though
After I sent the munchkins to bed I went outside just to look at the moon with my eyes.
Look at the sky now.

Clear as a bell.

I am sure tonight will be better.

Those are wonderful photos! It was a really good idea to get the telescope for the kids. I also got one this spring, for Michael, and it looks sort of like the same telescope. After seeing your great comments on the night sky I thought I might just get it out and have a look at the sky myself tonight! I never had a telescope as a kid, and the time I had to go up to the observatory behind the college I got lost in the totally dark night, in a cactus field, so I can't say I ever really saw much of the nightime sky up close and personal.

I got out my sewing machine yesterday and set it up, after too many months of needing to mend and shorten. I'll be taking orders for repairing kids' clothes if you want! I need the practice!! If you want to borrow my machine for a project while yours is in storage I'd be happy to bring it down next time! Let me know!

Do osomething nice for yourself today!
Love,
Mom
