Please?!
I have 20 lbs left to loose!
Of coarse I mean stripping old wallpaper!
This is a family blog!
:)
We did spend the weekend stripping ONE wall of years of tacky wallpaper. I do mean tacky. It was gross. My husband was right that we could have bought the chemicals to put on the wall that disintegrate the old glues and then the paper should come off easier. Oh no, not for this green mommy. I have to do it old school and not worry about the toxins that my munchkins might inhale or the poisonous leftovers that would be left in the trash then to pollute the earth. It was bad enough to see all the trash I was creating by throwing away the most hideous patterns of wallpaper. (seriously, one pattern was covered in these dog/cow creatures that were chariot racing. Who picked that, and WHY?)
There is only a 2 foot wide section left to scrape.
The wall was not that big, it was just really labor intense.
Scrape off one paper, wet the glue, scrape off glue, then wipe off wall. Repeat.
Kinda monotonous.
My husband thought it was funny to see me holding a sleeping baby while I was scraping.
He was being noisy and Belle really needed her nap, so since I did not want to stop and I knew that she would wake up if I put her down (because air compressors are kinda noisy) I just held her and scraped glue. Oh well, it worked.
But the munchkins all wanted to try ripping down the wall paper. The destruction part just thrills them! They love being able to break stuff and not get in trouble!
So, the munchkins got into the scraping yesterday. All four of them!
I love that they are going to be able to say, when the addition is done, "I helped build/demolish/paint this room!"
Even Belle!
She won't remember doing all of this but I will have plenty of pictures to prove it to her.

Heehee, I cannot count the number of times I've held my little one while doing things that normal people wouldn't even consider. I consider myself a master of one-armed trades cause I can do a whole lot with sleeping little ones in my arms :o)
Oh I wish I could show you my MIL's wallpapers in her house. It's funky, but i dunno if it's quite tacky yet, maybe ina few years if they ever decide to replace the carpets, cause that's really the only reason why it's not tackey yet.
