Helpful Tidbits

Okay, Ihave admitted several times that I am a green geek. I was into it way back before it was popular and you could not find books on recycling and stuff really easily. Shoot now days they have green hints everywhere. I thought I would share some of my favorites too.

CORNMEAL:
Use it on your lawn as a fertilizer, to get rid of pesky bugs and to get rid of ants. The ants eat the meal and can't digest it so they die. Best part, cornmeal is cheap and natural you can use it around pets and children while not damaging the earth.

CLEAN YOUR TOILET:
1/4 cup of Borax (about $3 a box at Fresh & Easy or WalMart) in your toilet and leave it alone for 30 minutes or all night then flush. All done. If it is really gross then a little swish of a toilet wand and flush.

TOOTHPASTE:
Clean your jewelry with toothpaste. It smells better and it is cheaper than jewelry cleaner. Try it I swear it works.

FABRIC SOFTENER:
instead of using an expensive store brand try 1/4 - 1/2 cup of vinegar in your washer. The clothes will be softer and you won't damage your washer with the build up from the fabric softener. Twice the life of your washer, better for the planet, cheaper for your wallet and your clothes will still be soft. ( add Borax for the stains. It really works.)

Blame my friend Pam for this blog, she sent me an email about green things today and it got me on a roll. Can't help it. The earth is my home and my children's. I want it to be here in good condition for future Munchkins, so I am doing all I can do now.

Hope your day is green!
